About Blackmore Electrical

01
Who is Blackmore Electrical Services?

Blackmore Electrical Services Ltd (company no. 09931958) is a Southsea electrical firm run by Richard, working alongside named technician Bailey. We cover Southsea, Portsmouth and the surrounding Hampshire area, with 20+ years' experience, Part P registration, OZEV-registered EV installer status and a 4.9-star Google rating.

Who actually comes to do the work?

You arrange the job with Richard, and either Richard or Bailey carries it out — a small, named team, not a rotating cast of subcontractors. It's Richard and Bailey together that customers name in their reviews.

How long have you been trading?

We have more than 20 years of hands-on electrical experience behind us — across EV chargers, rewires, consumer units, EICRs, lighting and emergency work — so it's rare we meet a job we haven't seen before.

What area do you cover?

We're based in Southsea and cover Portsmouth and the surrounding Hampshire area — including Fareham, Havant, Waterlooville, Gosport, Cosham and Hayling Island. If you're nearby and not sure whether you're in range, call and ask.

Booking & on the day

02
How do I arrange a job?

Call or text Richard on 023 8168 1977, message us on WhatsApp, or email blackmore.rich@gmail.com. Sending a quick description — or a photo of the job or fault — is usually the fastest way to a fair price.

What are your hours?

We work Monday to Friday 08:00–18:00 and Saturday to Sunday 08:00–16:00 — seven days a week. For urgent problems we offer rapid-response emergency callouts.

How quickly can you attend an emergency?

Electrical faults — tripped circuits, dead sockets, power outages, overheating consumer units — are handled as rapid-response callouts. Call Richard and we'll get to you as quickly as we can; one customer was told someone would be out Monday, and the job was done exactly as promised.

Will you explain the work before you start?

Always. Explaining what's recommended, and why, in plain English is the thing customers mention most — as one put it, Rich "did an exceptional job at explaining what work was recommended and then executed that work without a fuss." No work goes ahead until you understand it and the price.

Will you make a mess?

No. "Tidy workers, everything cleared up on completion" is a direct quote from a Google review. We treat your home as we'd want ours treated and leave it clean.

EV chargers & the OZEV grant

03
Are you an OZEV-registered installer?

Yes. Blackmore Electrical is an OZEV-registered EV charge point installer — a government-gated credential. Only OZEV-registered installers can access the OZEV grant on eligible charge points, so it directly affects what you pay.

Can you help me claim the £350 OZEV grant?

Yes. Where your property and charger qualify, we help you access the £350 OZEV government grant and handle the associated paperwork as part of the installation.

Which EV chargers do you install?

We install the leading brands — Myenergi Zappi, PodPoint Solo, Rolec WallPod: EV, SyncEV 7KW and Ohme. We'll advise on the right unit for your car, your driveway and whether you have solar.

What does an EV charger installation involve?

A load assessment, cabling, earthing, the connection back to your consumer unit, then testing and certification. Most installs take two to four hours, and we handle the OZEV grant paperwork where you're eligible.

Can you pair an EV charger with solar panels?

Yes. For homes with solar PV we set up compatible smart chargers, such as the Myenergi Zappi, to divert surplus solar energy into your car — so you charge from your own generated power and cut running costs.

Certificates, safety & landlords

04
What does Part P registered mean for me?

Part P is the section of the Building Regulations covering electrical safety in the home. As a Part P registered electrician, we carry out and certify domestic work to that standard, so your installation is compliant and properly documented.

Do you carry out EICRs for landlords?

Yes. We provide landlord safety certificates and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) for rental properties — inspecting every circuit, documenting the findings, and issuing the compliance certificate you need, with any remedial work explained clearly.

Can you upgrade an old fuse board?

Yes. We replace and upgrade ageing consumer units and fuse boards to current regulations, fitting modern RCD protection — one of the most worthwhile safety upgrades a property can have. We can add surge protection at the same time.

Is my work certified?

Yes. Depending on the job you'll receive the relevant certificate — for domestic installations under Part P, an EICR for landlord or condition inspections, and full testing and certification on EV charger installs.

Pricing, payment & getting in touch

05
How do I get a quote?

Send Richard the details — call, text, WhatsApp a photo of the job, or use the contact form. You'll get a fair price up front, and customers repeatedly describe our pricing as "more than reasonable" and "competitive."

How do I pay?

We accept cash, cheque and BACS bank transfer.

How quickly will you get back to me?

We aim to respond as quickly as we can. For anything urgent, calling or texting Richard on 023 8168 1977 is always the fastest route.
